Safety Tips for LGP Use in hotel

LPG is a popular and efficient energy source used in homes for cooking. It is imperative that you take good care and use it safely and responsibly. LPG Cylinders are strong and cannot be damaged easily. However leaks can occur from cylinder, valves and pipe connections if not kept in good condition or if considerable care is not taken while replacing them.

Precautions you have to be aware of

  • Shout and raise alarm / siren in case of unsafe conditions
  • In case of leakage, stop all operations, close all isolation valves
  • In case of valve leakage from cylinder, put the safety cap and take the cylinder to an open space
  • Use D.C.P type fire extinguishers in case of fire and /or call Fire Brigade
  • Call Fire Brigade, Goal Gas, if leakage is not controlled

Things you should avoid

  • Don't keep cylinders in a horizontal position. Always keep the cylinder in upright position
  • Don’t heat the cylinder directly or indirectly
  • Check the cylinder for any leakage from ‘O’ ring and valve before connecting
  • Don’t keep unconnected cylinders
  • Turn off the valve when cylinder is not in use
  • Restrict entry to authorized persons only
  • Don’t store any extra material in the LPG shed
  • Keep the area clean
  • Don’t allow battery operated instruments inside the LPG shed
  • Don’t use any non-flame proof electrical items inside the LPG shed
  • No smoking in the LPG shed or area
  • No naked flame anywhere inside the LPG shed or area
